Social Communication

Sometimes, social interaction (especially in new settings) can be awkward and downright uncomfortable. It happens to to best of us. However, if your speech and/or language challenges are inhibiting your ability to develop positive or meaningful relationships, TSE can help. Social/pragmatic communication focused therapy may address:

  • Conversation etiquette and norms

  • Topic maintenance and eye contact

  • Identifying verbal and non verbal cues in social settings

Receptive Language Therapy

Receptive language is your ability to understand information presented in verbal or written form. Challenges in receptive language can manifest as difficulty following directions or conversations, and trouble understanding fiction and non-fiction text. TSE receptive language intervention may address:

  • Reading comprehension strategies

  • Understanding and following multi-step directions

  • Understanding verbal or written information

Expressive Language Therapy

Expressive language is your ability to communicate thoughts and ideas. This may be in verbal, non verbal or written form. Challenges in expressive language can manifest as difficulty with topic maintenance, word-finding, disfluency or unclear speech. TSE expressive language focused intervention may address:

  • word finding for spoken or written tasks

  • clearly and cohesively expressing thoughts and ideas

  • Disfluency: stuttering and cluttering

  • Articulation and intelligibility
