Children develop language by observing and exploring the world and people around them. TSE uses dynamic, play-based therapy and structured activities to facilitate verbal and non verbal communication.
Ages 18 mos - 2 years
Speech-language therapy provided during this period is considered “early intervention”. TSE can help if your child presents difficulty with or lack of:
babbling and vocalizing
pointing and indicating a desired object
eye contact with others
greeting or acknowledging others (waving, vocalizing)
Responding to others (verbal or non verbal)
3 - 5 years
Preschool aged children colorfully reflect their world using verbal and non verbal language forms. TSE can help if your child presents difficulty with or lack of:
clearly articulating wants and needs
communicating emotions (sad, happy)
maintaining eye contact
Naming common nouns (animals, shapes etc.)
answering simple WH questions (what, who)
initiating conversation or play with others
6 - 12 years
School-aged children opinionatedly take charge of their world. Children needing assistance with speech and language may present with difficulty understanding and communicating thoughts and ideas. This may be in verbal, non verbal or written form. Challenges in expressive language can manifest as difficulty with topic maintenance, word-finding, disfluency or unclear speech. TSE expressive language-focused intervention may address:
word finding for spoken or written tasks
clearly and cohesively expressing thoughts and ideas
Disfluency: stuttering and cluttering
Articulation and intelligibility
